Virtuoso musicians, excellent opera singers and enchanting ballet dancers present an evening full of St Petersburg charm with lively Russian classical music, St Petersburg ballet, Russian folk music, and opera melodies at the highest artistic level.
Concerts in Petersburg's Palaces
The numerous ranges of events in recent time were presented in Saint Petersburg’s most beautiful palaces in the heart of the city. In 2008 the St Petersburg Imperial Orchestra will once again perform in the Bronze Hall of the Polovtsov Palace; in addition to this, the orchestra has the honor of staging concerts in Beloselky-Belozersky palace.
The magnificent, Beloselsky-Belozersky palace impresses with its imposing architecture, offering an experience in sound that simply cannot be better.
Russian nobles and members of the imperial family have enjoyed their time in the wonderful Polovtsov Palace built in the late Russian classical style.
St Petersburg Ballet, folk music, opera
The repertoire extends from the Russian folk music to the 20th century Russian Classics. The audience enjoys single movements from solo concerts, parts from Russian ballet, as well as operatic overtures from especially popular and well-known works, Russian folk dances.The most popular opera arias from Peter Tchaikovsky’s “Peak Dame” and „Heine“, music and ballet from Tchaikovsky’s „The Nutcracker“ and „Swan Lake“, Rimsky-Korsakov’s “Tale about the King Saltan”, Prokofiev’s “Romeo and Julia”, Borodin’s “Prince Igor” - comprise the first part of the concert.
In the second part, you will listen to well known Russian folk music and songs such as “Korobeyniki”, “Luchinushka”, Alexandr Aliabiev’s „Solovei“, Georgy Sviridov’ Waltz “Blizzard“, enjoy Russian folk dances.
The Orchestra
The concerts are performed by all Russia renowned musicians - all in magnificent historical costumes. Our pair of dancers from the Russian national ballet theatre, as well as solo singers from the best opera houses of St Petersburtg, give this musical experience the dimension of an imperial evening.
The Orchestra performs live two times a week on Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. from May until September at the historical halls located in the heart of St Petersburg.
